David Leander Horne

David Leander Horne, born 11 May 1872, was the son of Edmond Green Horne and Laura Elizabeth Wright Horne.

David's wife, Martha Marie Doelitzsch, born 23 Jan 1875, was the daughter of Emil Doelitzsch and Maria Bartl of Germany, Martha and her parents immigrated to the US in 1880. Her two brothers, George and Edgar were born in the USA.

David and Martha married sometime during 1908 in Austin, Travis County, Texas.  Martha was a registered nurse, working at the School for the Blind and delivering all the babies born in their neighborhood. Their first home was at 1500 Congress Avenue, also where David worked as a carpenter making furniture

Martha passed away 22 Jul 1957 at age 82; and David died 15 Sep 1933 at age 61.  Both are buried at Oakwood Cemetery, Austin, Travis, Texas. 

They had no children, they did raise three little girls whose mother had ask Martha to care for them, before she died. Mary Lee Ebner (age 90) told me, "Martha was the best mother she and her sisters could have had and they turned out the better for her."
